Awards Criteria for the Best Commercial Technology Initiative

The best commercial technology initiative aware recognises the innovative use of commercial/ proprietary platforms to create solutions in each of the thematic track. The idea of initiating this award is to encourage technology project managers and their teams to address development challenges in the fields of egoverance, education, health, agriculture, mobile services for development, municipal IT and public access centres through the telecentres or knowledge centres. The award for the best commercial technology is open to project implementers in the government, consultants, project partners, universities, and commercial entities that uses innovative technologies and tools to enhance effective solutions to development needs of the communities. The award provides means for sharing innovative ICT adaptation strategies and the techniques of talented and innovative application development that maximises the contribution to emerging markets, and robustness of solutions.


Eligibility for Projects/ Initiatives/ Enterprises to nominate for the award:

An innovative commercial technology project must have been completed, and tested, and must be fully operational at the time of nomination.
Incomplete projects will not be considered for the awards


The following criteria will be taken into account in the selection of Best Commercial Technology initiative

• Ensure that the project has applications in differnt domains of development


• Has a scalability potential


• Demonstrated ease of use and innovative application development on a commercial platform


• Creates value addition to the existing commercial platforms from the end-user/ client perspective


• Demonstrates the public private partnership value in design/ fulfilling larger initiative needs (not a compulsory criteria)


• Is NOT an in-house project initiative of a software development firm, but is an initiative that has demonstrated its applications with a partner.
