The role of Internet in simplifying the functioning of municipalities can just not be negated. In India, however, some municipalities have adopted IT while many have not. e-India 2008 intends to create a knowledge base about the role that information technology can play in making the municipalities more effective. The conference would educate policy makers, municipal officials and citizens about how IT can make the functioning of municipalities smooth and speedy.
