The National Internet Exchange of India is the neutral meeting point of the ISPs in India. Its main purpose is to facilitate exchange of domestic Internet traffic between the peering ISP members. This enables more efficient use of international bandwidth, saving foreign exchange. It also improves the Quality of Services for the customers of member ISPs, by avoiding multiple international hops and thus reducing latency.

NiXi envisages two fold benefits. The operational costs for peering ISPs are reduced through better utilisation of expensive international bandwidth as well as optimal levels of domestic interconnectivity. We are made up of two unique development institutions owned by 185 member countries—the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA).

Each institution plays a different but supportive role in our mission of global poverty reduction and the improvement of living standards. The IBRD focuses on middle income and creditworthy poor countries, while IDA focuses on the poorest countries in the world. Together we provide low-interest loans, interest-free credit and grants to developing countries for education, health, infrastructure, communications and many other purposes.

UgaBYTES Initiative is a not-for profit telecentre support network, established since 2000. It facilitates telecentres to increase their capacity by sharing knowledge and e-discussions to create an impact to the grassroots development. The organization is also involved building capacities of telecentre practitioners in management and technical aspects and carries out lobby and advocacy roles.

The WiMAX Forum® is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization formed to certify and promote the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based upon the harmonized IEEE 802.16/ETSI HiperMAN standard. WiMAX Forum's goal is to accelerate the introduction of these systems into the marketplace. WiMAX Forum Certified™ products are fully interoperable and support broadband fixed, portable and mobile services. Along these lines, the WiMAX Forum works closely with service providers and regulators to ensure that WiMAX Forum Certified systems meet customer and government requirements. The WiMAX Forum® has more than 522 members comprising the majority of operators, component and equipment companies in the communications ecosystem.

The Objectives of the Forum for 2008 are : Establish cost effective and timely certification processes and certification infrastructure for WiMAX that achieve device and network interoperability. Publish technical specifications to achieve a commercially viable global ecosystem for WiMAX. Promote the brand and technology to establish WiMAX as the worldwide market leader for broadband wireless.
