Dr. BK Murthy, Director, Dept. of IT, Ministry of Comm. & IT, Govt. of India
Dr. B.K. Murthy is currently heading the National Knowledge Network Division in the Department of IT, Ministry of Communications and IT, Govt. of India. This is a flagship project of the Govt. of India as recommended by the National Knowledge Commission.
He was awarded PhD degree by IIT Delhi for his thesis on Neural Networks for Natural Language Processing in 1996. He had joined DIT (erstwhile DoE) in September 1986. Since then he held several positions and contributed to many projects inter alia Knowledge Based Computer Systems Projects, TDIL Programme etc. He is instrumental in the initiation of e-learning activities of the DIT and contributed significantly for the incorporation of Media Lab Asia. He has recently served as Executive Director, DOEACC Society.
He was member of academic advisory committee, School of Computer Sciences, IGNOU and Examination Board Memeber DOEACC society.
Dr. Murthy’s research interests include AI, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering and Object Oriented Design. He has published and presented more than 25 papers in various journals and conferences.
