Under the programme and activities of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), ICT is being used as a major strategy towards reaching the unreached and management of NIOS. All course materials at Secondary level and Sr.Secondary and vocational courses are available on INIOS web site www.nios.ac.in for reference purpose and to serve the interests of the students and educationists. NIOS offers a number of IT enabled courses through its vocational institutions. Online Facility for NIOS learners under NIOS Online- In the emerging scenario of ICT, NIOS has taken major initiatives to use ICT for improving the efficiency of its operations for providing better service to its learners. NIOS has taken innovative steps to use ICT for reaching its learners directly by providing its learners a facility of On-line Registration for Admissions and Examinations in an interactive mode of filling up all application forms. NIOS also introduced Online Payment through any Credit/Debit Card (Master/VISA). About 2,82,000 students took admission in NIOS through Online mode during 2009-10.
NIOS conducts On Demand Examination (ODES) at Secondary (10th) and Sr.Secondary (12th) Level using ICT in evaluation. Under the System of ODES, a set of question paper having defined number of items is generated randomly by the computer out of the already developed question bank on the basis of question paper design and the blue print of the subject on the day of the examination. The learners can take up the examinations as per their wish and preparation and is completely a learner centric examination system.

NIOS-Online has won the National Award Silver icon for e-Governance 2008-09 in the category of Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering.

Sri Chaitanya has been the right mentor and pioneer for IIT - JEE aspirants since 1986. The pioneers to this concept are Dr B.S. Rao and Dr. B. Jhansi Laxmi. The institution that started with career oriented integrated teaching at the Intermediate level grew in leaps and bounds with branches across 17 districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh and 7 states across the country.
