eINDIA 2010 » municipalIT India 2010
City signifies population, easy access to basic amenities, commerce, culture, aspiration and prosperity. It also inhibits proper housing, transport facilities and recreational activities, inter alia. With the unprecedented increase in urbanisation, and the ever-growing demands of the citizens, the very concept of urban planning assumes importance.
To make cities better planned, livable, connected and smarter, citizen centric, with judicious blend of good governance; the use of information and communication technology is paramount. To take this discourse further on achieving the above-mentioned goals of healthier and wealthier city, eINDIA2010 is organising IT for Urban Governance track.
The conference would educate policy makers, municipal officials and citizens about how IT can make the functioning of municipalities smooth and speedy. The event provides a unique platform to understand and debate about the strategies to arm municipalities with IT, challenges that might arise and the advantages that people stand to get. To ensure that the whole exercise reaches a logical conclusion the conference is divided into various sessions with different topics slated to be discussed in each sessions.
Objectives
The IT for Urban Governance track aims to identify and discuss emerging issues related with governance reforms in municipal areas, highlight cutting edge technology and integrated applications, share expertise in efficiently delivering citizen services, assist in the formulation of appropriate strategies, and facilitate the development of interdisciplinary approach to ensure good governance. It aims to bring together the business process, IT infrastructure (software & hardware), training and capacity building, and the way forward to address the issues related to use of IT for Urban Governance.
